Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Maldives

As you speed across aquamarine waters, the private Emboodhu Finolhu Island begins as a low bump in the distance. As you near it, the tell-tale oval-shaped docks of Taj Exotica Resort & Spa Maldives appear, and you realize that someone is going to have to eventually drag you out of here.

Although this island is tiny, it sports one of the largest lagoons in the region, perfect for your best Jacques Cousteau impression. Back on land, each of the 62 modish, thatched-roof villas boast crisp linens, warm wooden patios, and private infinity pools.

At the resort's three restaurants and bars, enjoy addictive cocktails and Pan-Asian cuisine. Feeling creative? Just pick a spot on the island, and the private chefs and wait staff will make any area a VIP area. But before you go kicking and screaming from this real life paradise, make sure and hit the Indian-inspired Jiva Spa. You'll want your last Maldives memory to be a pristine one.

Island Hideaway at Dhonakulhi Maldives, Spa Resort & Marina

You may think you've gone to heaven when you pull up to Island Hideaway at Dhonakulhi Maldives, Spa Resort & Marina. It's one of only three resorts in the Haa Alifu Atoll, and takes up only five-percent of this private island. The rest of it is virgin land - powder white sand, plus tons of coconut and banana trees.

Inside the resort, find six types of accommodation: some "floating" over infinity pools, some with private pools, some right on the beach, and others that sit on stilts over the ocean. The most deluxe are the Hideaway Water Suites. Each with their own sea-view spa room, including sauna, steam room, and an outdoor bathtub.

Here, private chefs are at your disposal for in-room or in-restaurant dining. If you happen to venture out, be sure to check out the largest whiskey collection in the Indian Ocean. After that, you may require a spa treatment at the Hideaway Spa, with its internal waterways and waterfall walls.

If only you could be marooned here forever!
