Saipan is an island in the middle of nowhere that you've probably never heard of. Perhaps you've heard of Guam? Guam gets referenced in popular culture as a small out of the way place about as far away from everything else as one can get. To put Saipan's place in the world in perspective, in order to get there, you have to stop over in Guam. That makes Saipan smaller and less significant than the smallest and least significant places in the world, but it sure is one beautiful island!
