Hotel Pitrizza, Sardinia, Italy

On Sardinia's spectacular Costa Smeralda, Hotel Pitrizza is a romantic hideaway where guests can take to the emerald blue waters at a private beach, or bask in the sun at the outdoor pool.

The forested hills, emerald blue waters, and hidden pockets of golden sand make the area around Hotel Pitrizza as beautiful and romantic a spot as any you'll find around the Mediterranean. Yet, somehow, the place feels a bit like your own little secret.

Bamurra Plains, Kakadu National Park, Northern Territory, Australia

Set amid the rugged and beautiful landscape of northern Australia, Bamurra Plains boasts luxurious accommodations and a safari experience with some of Oz's most exotic wildlife.

You'll hear guides refer to Bamurru Plains as exemplifying "wild bush luxury", and it certainly fits. "Wild bush" because it's in a far-flung corner of the Australian wilderness, and "luxury" because they provide the kind of creature comforts you just don't expect in the middle of the savannah bush.

The star attraction at Bamurru Plains is the wildlife. On safari, you'll look for wallabies, dingos, wild pigs, water buffalo, and crocodiles. And you won't have to look very hard for the crocs. The nearby (but not too nearby) Sampan River is home to one of the largest populations on the planet.

Swimming Pools

Dive in and forget the worries of every day life!

We live in a society of rush, rush, rush, go, go, go.... It is often very difficult to say STOP. Time to stop doing. Time to stop worrying about the future or fretting about the past. It's time to simply be. To simply be - in the present. If we practise this mental attitude in our approach to how we are in the water, then we can really come to understand the way swimming benefits our state of mind.

The Veranda Resort, Turks and Caicos Islands, Caribbean

If you've ever wondered why the hammock was invented, The Veranda, Turks and Caicos will give you a pretty definitive answer.

Juan Ponce de León stumbled across the Turks and Caicos in 1512, and lovers of unspoiled island life have been flocking back ever since. When it's your turn to flock, The all-inclusive Veranda Resort is a fine place to roost.

Situated on Grace Bay, The Veranda offers 123 garden or ocean view rooms, plus eight individual beachfront cottages. The cottages offer barbeques and plunge-pools to their lucky inhabitants.

For the activity junky, Turks and Caicos is a dream. Reef snorkeling, big game fishing, horseback riding, golf, and even kite boarding are on offer if you really need to get that old adrenaline gland going.

Dining needs are graciously attended to at the Marin, Grille Bleu and Sky Lounge, and tired bodies are soothed at the Sabai Spa, where Asian wisdom guides facials, aromatherapy, and much more.

Got little ones? Not to worry, the Kids Club is more than happy to take them off your hands for the day, and return them smiling... and tired.
