WHERE I WANT TO BE: Villa e Palazzo Aminta Beauty and Spa, Lake Maggiore, Italy

Light from an antique lamp scatters the amber hues of a glass of wine on stucco as the sun sets over the Stresa hills. It's all part of the perfection of Villa e Palazzo Aminta Beauty and Spa.

One can imagine the attraction to the picturesque Lake Maggiore and Borromeo Islands felt by Villa e Palazzo's first owner, the Admiral of the Italian Navy Francesco Capece. His lovingly constructed private family home has since been renovated and restored to make the ideal weekend getaway for tourists and Italian locals alike.

Antique furniture, stucco, chandeliers, and precious wallpapers line the 54 deluxe rooms, five junior suites, and eight full-size suites of Villa e Palazzo Aminta Beauty and Spa.  Accommodations feature lovely views of the park and lake, where Villa e Palazzo Aminta Beauty and Spa guests enjoy water skiing, swimming, and sun bathing on the hotel's private beach.

WHERE I WANT TO BE: Singita Boulders Lodge, Sabi Sand Reserve, South Africa

At Singita Boulders Lodge, tracking the savanna's most elusive beasts is an everyday occurrence - as are first-class spa treatments, wine tastings, adventurous cuisine, and flawless luxury living.

Singita Boulders Lodge, hidden away in South Africa's Kruger National Park, lets you track the world's biggest beasts while retaining every possible hotel luxury you could want - including swimming pools for each suite, internationally trained sommeliers, and a South African wine cellar to die for.

The Singita Sabi Sand Game Reserve is home to high concentrations of lions, rhino, buffalo, elephant, and leopard. You'll get the chance to track them with knowledgeable guides in the mornings and evenings, when they're most active. You'll quickly find that midday hours are best reserved for relaxing by the pool to beat the heat.

WHERE I WANT TO BE: Conrad Maldives Rangali Island

Sometimes, luxury means never having to put your shoes on. Between the warm waters of the Indian Ocean, the hourglass-quality white sands, and the casually exotic environs of your beach or overwater villa, give your tired tootsies a break at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island Hotel.

This tropical paradise actually occupies two connected islands, each with their own charms. Walking the illuminated bridge between them as the sun sets, you'll see stingrays swimming in the crystal blue water. With seven world-class restaurants, a glass-floored spa that sits over the sea, and a wine cellar dining room to impress any oenophile, this is decidedly deluxe island living.

World's Thinnest House

Check out this teeny tiny house in Warsaw, Poland that is just 1.2 metres wide.  It was designed by Polish architect Jakub Szczesny about 3 years ago when he discovered this small space between two buildings.  Despite the size of this miniature home, it still manages to have a bedroom, bathroom and a kitchen - amazing!

I'm feeling claustrophobic just looking at the photos!
