Around the world...

I am very inspired by the big styling trend that is going on at the moment with globes and world maps. Stylists are using them from floor to ceiling and everywhere in between.

Here are some of the rooms that have inspired me - so much so that I think I am going to have a crack at making a 3 piece canvas world map! Will post photos IF successful! x

Mondrian SoHo, New York

By now you know that I usually post beautiful tropical resorts on this blog, but I just couldn't resist showing you this amazing hotel!  New York, New York… a place where travelers encounter limitless options, fantastic sights and sounds, and a luxury hotel that will blow your socks off: the Mondrian SoHo.

Mondrian SoHo opened February 2011, and was the third Mondrian and the company's downtown debut. Designed by Benjamin Noriega Ortiz, the 270-room hotel features an indoor-outdoor bar and restaurant offering layers of experiences from a lush enchanted garden to informal social seating. Inspired by the Jean Cocteau Film, "La Belle et la bete", the hotel seduces and inspires guests through distinct environments from the lobby courtyard to the jewel-box rooms.

Just gorgeous! x

A Beach Cottage

Call me a bit behind the times but I have recently discovered the gorgeous little blog, A Beach Cottage.  Published by Sarah, an advocate for winging it and not worrying about perfection, she loves to combine coastal, cottage and country for her unique Beach Cottage style.  She shares her projects, decorating ideas and ways to achieve a comfortable and casual home without spending a fortune.

Here are the results of her renovations to the run down old beach cottage that she bought with her husband with a mission to decorate the cottage-near-the-sea with a mixture of old vintage finds scoured from the beachside suburbs, and painted everything she could in a tried and tested hand mixed beach white, added piles of white linens, striped cotton rugs and heaps of vintage china…
